Polymarket Up or Down
Polymarket Up or Down 5-minute crypto markets
Polymarket runs a continuous series of 5-minute “Up or Down” markets on seven cryptocurrencies. A new window opens every five minutes and settles at its close. This page explains how they are named, how they work, and what the order book and trading look like, using our recorded data.

How the markets are named
Each market is titled “Coin Up or Down - date, start-end ET”, for example “Bitcoin Up or Down - October 16, 8:00PM-8:05PM ET”. The link slug is <coin>-updown-5m-<start> where <start> is the window start in Unix seconds. Windows start on every 5-minute boundary, so there are 288 per coin per day.
How a window works
Two outcome tokens, Up and Down, trade between 0 and 1 dollar on Polymarket's order book. Because exactly one pays $1, the Up price and the Down price mirror each other: an Up bid at 0.60 is effectively a Down ask at 0.40. Prices move as the coin moves against its starting price, and the book usually becomes one-sided in the final minute. See the order book explained and how fees work.
Data for every window
We publish three files per coin per day: the order book, the trade tape and the window results, all keyed by window_start and elapsed_ms. Coin pages: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP, Dogecoin, BNB, Hyperliquid.
